Questions that come up

I scanned a label and it says the item belongs to another lab.

It does. Use the button on that page to ask them for it. Depending on their policy you will either get an answer in your Mine page or be allowed to take it straight away.

Somebody has an instrument out and I need it.

A plain user is told only that it is spoken for, which is enough to go and find another one. If it matters, ask a manager: they can see who has it, where it went and when it is due.

Somebody left and their equipment is still checked out to them.

A manager can return it with Check in on their behalf. The history records who actually did it.

I corrected a name in the spreadsheet and now there are two of the item.

Rows are recognised by sheet, category, manufacturer, model and serial number together. Changing one of those makes the row look new. Corrections belong in the catalogue, not in the spreadsheet; ask a manager to remove the duplicate.

The item’s page shows the wrong room.

The keeping place comes from the spreadsheet and means where the item lives, not where it is now. Where it is now is whoever has it out, or the keeping place if nobody does. A manager can change the keeping place under Edit.

I booked something and somebody else took it.

A booking does not hold equipment; it makes your claim visible to whoever looks at the item next. Bookings are a way of coordinating, not a lock.

I get a weekly email I do not want.

Mine ‣ Preferences switches it off. It is only ever sent when you are actually holding something.

My account still says it is waiting for approval.

A manager has to approve it. Anyone with the manager role in your lab can.

A label is damaged or missing.

Managers can reprint. The identifier never changes, so a reprinted label is the same label.

Can I use this on a phone?

That is what it is designed for. Scanning a sticker and pressing one button is the intended way to borrow something; everything else is arranged around that.
